Montreal, November 30, 2018 – The Association of Creative Communications Agencies (A2C) welcomes a report issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal (CCMM) titled Creative industries: succeeding in a rapidly evolving environment. Its conclusions reveal significant challenges facing creative industries, specifically the creative communication sector where a lack of fiscal fairness hinders this sector from accessing the best talent.

The report shows that the creative communication sector represents 18% of jobs in the creative industries. “Our sector’s economic contribution is undeniable and yet we are practically the only ones not to have benefited from a tax credit. This unfair tax situation is a problem in the highly competitive and constantly changing environment in which we operate. We will be working towards making governmental bodies aware of this issue in order to find solutions,” said Dominique Villeneuve, President and CEO of the A2C.

For the past 10 years, there has been a constant increase in advertising investments in Quebec. Today, nearly $2.9 billion is invested in advertising according to the A2C’s most recent economic study. Digital investments have increased by 53% in four years and now exceed $1 billion. These changes obviously result in an immense need for recruitment and continuous professional development.

That’s why the A2C supports the CCMM’s proposed objective to accelerate collaboration and mobilization of the ecosystem’s stakeholders in order to implement long-lasting solutions that promote the development of a workforce specialized in our field and raise the profile of Quebec’s creative talent. The Strategic Forum on creative industries scheduled for December 3 will bring several actors together in order to foster these discussions.
