Ad Archives

The Centre d’archives publicitaires (CAP) was created by Pierre Savard in October 2004. Its mission is to accumulate and preserve anything related to the first 50 years of Quebec’s advertising industry.

Ownership of the archives

The material in the ad archives belongs to Pierre Savard whereas the intellectual property rights belong to the client. The user must request permission to the client (often via the agency who holds the account) every time the archives are used.

What’s available

 

  • A digital database for searches
  • More than 40,000 ads on tape, film, and DVD
  • More than 250 books and various reference volumes on advertising and marketing (many from the estate of Jacques Blouin)
  • A few framed vintage posters

Who can request access to the archives

 

  • Any educational institution
  • Museums
  • Producers
  • Broadcasters
  • Other professionals in the communication industry
