Seeking Stand-Out Communications Campaigns:
CASSIES 2016 Call for Submissions Announced
Prestigious awards program introduces new early bird entry fee for July 17
and final submission deadline for August 5, 2015
Toronto, ON, June 5, 2015 — The CASSIES, Canada’s only industry awards recognizing communications effectiveness based on rigorous published cases, has just announced its 2016 call for submissions. This year it has introduced new early bird pricing, with submissions due by Friday July 17th, 2015, by 12:00pm EST, and final submissions due by Wednesday August 5th, 2015 at 12:00pm EST.
“The prestigious CASSIES awards hold significant merit not only within the creative communications industry, but also within the Canadian business landscape, and these awards make big demands on those entering,” says John Bradley, judging convener, CASSIES.
“The CASSIES are difficult to win, so as part of our mission to improve industry standards, this year, we’re featuring some of the 2015 gold-winning cases on www.cassies.ca, to help case writers understand what our judges require.”
These changes, says Bradley, will help submission writers put their best foot forward for their campaigns. “Over the last few years, we’ve seen a fantastic trend of stronger entries from across the communications spectrum, and we anticipate this trend will only continue to grow.”
The CASSIES is an opportunity for all communications disciplines, including advertising, public relations, social media and shopper marketing to showcase campaigns that delivered significant, measureable results for brands.
Moving forward, the CASSIES judging panel will feature two co-chairs for the awards – one representing the agency side, and one representing the client side. This year, Jill Nykoliation, president, Juniper Park, and Tony Matta, chief marketing officer, Kraft Canada Inc., will serve as judging co-chairs. In addition, this year’s notable judging panel includes:
• Chris Breikss, president, 6S Marketing
• Francois Forget, vice-president, strategy, partner, Sid Lee
• Lisa Kimmel, president, Edelman Canada
• Sheri Metcalfe, senior vice-president, co-managing director, Jungle Media
• Gautam Nath, vice-president, Balmoral Multicultural Marketing
• Brent Nelsen, executive vice president, chief strategy officer, Leo Burnett Canada
• Stephanie Nerlich, president, chief executive officer, Grey Canada
• Helen Pak, president, chief creative officer, Havas Worldwide Canada
• Alain Tadros, president, Publicis Montreal
• Pauline Varga, vice-president, marketing, Danone Canada
• Nathalie Lachance, vice-president, brand and marketing communications, Desjardins
• Ricardo Martin, vice-president, marketing, Unilever Canada
• Rob Assimakopoulos, senior vice-president, chief marketing officer, CIBC
Last year, the Best Multicultural Campaign category was introduced with the aim of recognizing communications campaigns that target Canada’s ever-changing multicultural landscape. In order to grow the number of submissions in this category for 2016, CASSIES will be hosting a webinar on Monday June 22nd from 1pm to 2:30pm EST (via: https://cassies2015.eventbrite.ca) to offer guidance to agencies that wish to further familiarize their teams on the case writing and submission process.
“The multicultural communications sector is growing exponentially in Canada, and specialized agencies are producing some excellent business-building work,” says Gautam Nath, judging panel member and vice-president, Balmoral Multicultural Marketing. “It is wonderful to see these innovative campaigns being applauded within the industry, and I’m looking forward to cultivating this submission category.”
CASSIES entries must be filed online at www.cassies.ca. The winners will be announced and celebrated at the annual CASSIES awards show to be held in February 2016.
